Discrimination in the housing industry can be blatantly obvious and deliberate or subtle and genuinely unintentional. Regardless of the intent, judgments are handed down every day against discriminatory housing practices. Breaching fair housing laws can result in costly fines, suspended licenses, and even revoked licenses. You can protect yourself from liability and help eliminate discrimination in the housing industry by becoming educated on the laws that regulate discrimination and by making an informed choice to work within the boundaries set by these laws.

Of course, the most important reason why real estate licensees should follow fair housing laws is that fair housing provides an equal market that fosters economic growth and makes home ownership and quality rentals available to larger numbers of people. Plus, fair housing is good for business by making it possible for real estate professionals and investors to maximize their earning potential.  In this course, you will learn about the significant milestones in housing law history and review the primary aspects of fair housing laws, including the significant legislative acts that continue to define today’s fair housing practices.
